Zero

Zero is both everything and nothing.

The yogic term shuniya means “zero, emptiness, stillness, or absolute silence.”

In this tradition, zero is ego-less, ultimate self-control, clarity and happiness. Like a circle, there is no beginning, no middle and no end. It is the reality of life and expansion into infinity. Use zero to multiply to infinity.

The archetype for this number is the Saviour / Destroyer. It is expansion and contraction, resurrection and faith. Source energy.

Try this technique for Zero

Because the ultimate expression of zero is without ego, it is the highest form of intuition, of being in the right place at the right time. It is the result of training, discipline and self-control.

Ego Eradicator Meditation (1 to 3 minutes)

*Caution: menstruating women should substitute Breath of Fire with long, deep, slow breathing through the nose.

1. Posture

  • Sit in Easy Pose (cross-legged on the floor) with a straight spine or on a chair with a straight spine and feet on the floor.

  • Close your eyes and focus at the Brow Point (third eye).

2. Hand & Arm Position

  • Raise your arms up to a 60-degree angle from the ground (a wide V shape).

  • Curl your fingers so the finger pads touch the base of the fingers — making the hands into loose “bear claws.”

  • Thumbs point straight up (like antennae).

  • Keep the elbows straight but relaxed.

  • Shoulders stay down, chest open.

3. Breath

  • Begin Breath of Fire: a steady, rhythmic sniffing in and out through the nose.

    • The inhale and exhale are equal in strength and length.

    • The navel point pumps in and out with each breath (in on inhale, out on exhale).

    • Keep the breath continuous and rapid, like a bellows.

4. Mental Focus

  • Eyes remain closed, attention fixed at the third eye point.

  • Simply ride the rhythm of the breath and posture.

5. Duration

  • Traditionally 1 to 3 minutes.

  • Beginners: start with 1 minute.

6. To End

  • Inhale deeply, bring thumbs together above the head (fingertips still curled in).

  • Exhale and release the arms down in a sweeping arc.

  • Sit quietly, breathing normally, and notice the stillness.
