The Fifth Body

Your physical body, all your senses, plus your emotions. The yogis say your physical self should serve you.

The archetype is the Teacher. Communication (particularly written), leading by example, affection. Five is sacrifice, keeping up, flexibility; developing endurance in the area of tolerance and perspective. The Fifth Body knows balance and movement; it represents ‘freedom’ which is where discipline and self-sacrifice come in, because - -  there is no freedom that is free.

Try this meditation for the 5th Body

Stand on one foot for 2-3 minutes. This could be Tree Pose, or just standing on one foot. The two thin filaments (ida & pingala) on either side of your spine are strengthened when you do this exercise. Make sure you are not holding your breath!

It’s okay if you find it challenging to balance on one foot. The most beneficial part of this exercise are the small movements and corrections you make to adjust your posture to stay on one foot.
